Solids with full Contact

This method is similar to the Beam-as-Bolt method except that this will have a more realistic shear stiffness since the bolt is modeled with solids and will contact the inside of the bolthole. Because the bolts are modeled with solids it will much more difficult than the Beam method to estimate bolt loads. Many more contact regions are defined than the Beam method and will result in a dramatic increase in run time. You should only use this method if shear stiffness is important and only for models with a few bolts.

To use this method, model the bolt and head with solids (nominal diameter only, no threads or details). Defined Contact regions between the interface surfaces and the bolt shank and hole.
